So far the following introduction and main points are all I can come up with. I need to make the intro capture more attention, and I’m not sure if these are the main points that I should hit in order to get the message accross to the audience. Any suggestions on how I can make this better?
I. Introduction
Many of you will be crafting resumes soon after college to gain a position in the career of your choice. But after you have finished the final stages of perfecting your resume, take one more look at it and ask yourself, did you accurately convey your experience, achievements, and education?
II. Body
A. What is resume inflation.
B. How resume inflation is detected.
C. What the consequences are for inflating your resume.

OBJECTIVE: To interview for a position that would allow me to express my qualifications and experience that cannot be outlined in this resume and demonstrate my ability to provide solutions for my customers. To be associated with a company that would recognize and reward my talents based on my performance with recognition and opportunity for advancement.

Why would a resume gets discarded for mentioning one’s age despite the experience and qualification he/she has? Yes, I know that one shouldn’t include personal information.
But as long as he/she doesn’t mind mentioning his/her age, I don’t see anything wrong with that.

However, since I just started, I can’t really list any accomplishments or tasks under this current internship. But of course I don’t want to lie and leave it off my resume.
Of course, the interviewer may not even care that I have another internship and may not ask for an updated version of my resume. However I do want to be prepared. Any thoughts or suggestions?

·Has a passion for researching equities.
·Recently started managing $90,000 of family portfolios, which include equities and options.
·Realized a 40% gain year over year in a model portfolio from 2006-2007.
As I said, this would be listed under the “hobbies and skills” section of the portfolio. I also have a few more things listed there so it is not like this is the only thing.
Thanks for answers.

If I write a resume, should I include how much in tips I made per night at the restaurant I worked at in high school and while I was in community college? I worked at a steak n shake and made really good tips. My friend said including this on a resume would show I was a good waitress.

The only “work experience” I have is babysitting for my siblings.
Should I include my junior high education?
Should I include extracurricular activities or volunteer activities?
My resume is fairly short, and I’m not sure what else to put in it.
Also, I’m not quite sure about the whole cover letter thing. What is it exactly?
Help please and thank you.

So I guess what I am asking is if someone can run down the things I should include and the format, and what things I should omit. Thank You.
And the application also has a spot (online application) for “Comments to the Recruiter or cover letter.”, what do I do there?
It specifically asks for the resume, I thought it was silly also, but I want to do it right and make a good impression. I can also use and modify it for other jobs I might be applying for in the future.

In May, he was hired at a company, only to be layed off at his 90 day review along with 6 other people.
So my questions are
1. Should he put the one job he was layed off from on his resume at all? He does not want to and is not planning on it. I’m just wondering if that is okay.
2. He read that when an employer sees a gap in a resume they automatically dismiss the resume without even asking for an explaination, presumably because they figure the person is hiding something or was fired. So the gap should be explained in a cover letter.
Is that true? Should it be brought up in the cover letter? Should he say he was unemployed for that period of time?
All help and ideas welcome.
Thanks!!!
In response to some of your answers
He has tried to get a job everywhere! Literally. He is not lazy and he does want to work. He has health insurance through disability for a problem in his leg and his back - although you wouldn’t notice it. If he works a certain number of hours he loses his health insurance, which he has to have for his heart condition. Therefore the job must be full time with benefits.
He’s tried fast food, drug stores, etc. - they took one look at the application, saw his degrees, and politely told him he’s overqualified. He’s thought of taking his degrees off his resume!
The jobs (in his field) his education qualifies him for require a minimum of 3-5 years experience, some require over 10 years.
He has tried going out of his field. No one realizes how hard this man has been tring to get a job. He finally got what he thought was his dream job, just to be layed off 3 months later. He never received a letter or anything, they told him in person.

I’m thinking of sending the new resume to several companies who already have the old version.
I believe the new resume will be a better advertisement for my skills and I believe that sending the new copy will be a way to make sure that I am still in their mind.
The downside is that I could annoy the employers and they might question why I made the changes.
What do you think? What would you do?

I passed the first interview with a supervisor; now I need to get a second one with HIS boss. I’ve been calling for several weeks (about 3 months or so). Should I continue to bug the crap out of these guys?
Likewise with similar jobs, how long would it take me to call someone before I am granted an interview? Does calling them once a week help anything? I understand that they are busy and such; it’s just that I would like a job that would help put me through a master’s degree program.
At the moment, this is getting QUITE FRUSTRATING and I feel like I should give up and start some crappy home-based business.
Any advice?

I’m a freelance writer with a few published clips to my name. I also did some ghostwriting that has appeared in a couple of major outlets. Is it possible to acknowledge those clips as the ghostwriter on my writer’s resume? Or is that inappropriate?
The bigger question is, how does a ghostwriter prove her writing skills for future clients except by revealing projects she’s worked on in the past? Is it just a matter of networking?
I’m stumped.

One of the things I did to help make it look more appealing was add a sophisticated looking border around the edges of the paper. Nothing fancy, just a line, and I personally think it relieves the text overload. But is that okay to do in a resume?
